Realistic tattoos
When the goal is for a tattoo to look as close to real life as possible, we are talking about realistic tattoos.
Our realism tattoos are done by Jon Arenas, an expert in creating large, highly complex compositions so you can get tattooed with anything you want.
We create high-contrast tattoos so they last over time and don’t lose quality as the years go by.
As you can see in this gallery, we create highly textured realistic tattoos so they look even more lifelike.
Some tattoos decorate the skin… and then there is the realistic tattoo, the kind you have to study in detail and that leaves you speechless. They are not just drawings: they are reality, they look like they could move. It’s the kind of tattoo that makes you look twice because it looks like a photo, not ink.
At Motink we have been working on realistic tattoos for years and, if we have learned anything, it is that realism isn’t just “making it look like the reference”. It’s capturing the emotion, the light, the details, and making sure the skin holds it over time. That takes a lot of technique and sensitivity: it’s not just a good tattoo machine and needle, it’s also listening, patience and understanding what the tattoo means to you.
Many people come looking for a black and grey realistic tattoo: portraits, animals (mostly dog tattoos), historical figures, scenes that have marked them. Others prefer colour realism or 3D tattoos, full of strength and contrast. Whatever the format, what matters is that the result represents you, reads well from a distance and stays intact in 10, 20 or 30 years.
That’s why we never rush. If you come for a realistic tattoo, we listen to you and help you choose the best photo, the best body area, the ideal size and the composition so no detail is lost. We don’t do “quick copies”: we make pieces that deserve respect.
The best realistic tattoo
At Motink you are not a number coming in and out. You are someone with a story. And if you are going to trust someone with your skin, you deserve to be treated with honesty, experience and warmth.
If you are looking for a well-made realistic tattoo, Jon Arenas is your tattoo artist, with no tricks and no empty promises: this is your place.

FAQs
What people ask us
How does the service work?
- The first step is to explain your main idea clearly to the tattoo artist, so they fully understand what you want.
- The second step is to tell the tattoo artist/manager where you would like the tattoo and its size.
- Once the tattoo artist/manager knows this, they can price the tattoo and give you a quote.
- In the fourth step you accept the quote or not and, depending on that decision, a date is chosen for the tattoo.
- Once you have a date, all you have to do is wait for your appointment, without pressuring the tattoo artist about your design.
- As the last step, the tattoo artist will send you the design. If you don’t like it, the necessary changes will be made and, once you are happy with it, you just wait for your appointment.
In some cases, such as small tattoos, the design is made on the day of the session.
Who can get a tattoo?
Anyone can get a tattoo except pregnant women or people with any kind of active skin condition, such as viral warts, herpes or bacterial infections, according to experts. Tattoos are also not advisable for people with psoriasis or lichen planus, a condition that causes recurring rashes and itching on the skin or in the mouth.
On the other hand, if you tend to develop keloid scars, that is, large raised scars, the unavoidable wounds caused by the tattoo can leave unsightly marks.
Can anaesthetic be applied?
An anaesthetic cream can be applied to the skin; you can find EMLA at the pharmacy, or talk directly to the tattoo artist for a recommendation.
In some cases it is better not to apply these creams, as some tattoos are more delicate than others and it could affect the result.
